The Borough of Rutherford’s 43nd Annual Labor Day Street Fair will be held Monday, September 3, 2018, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Musical entertainment will be held at the Hutzel Memorial Band Shell in Lincoln Park starting at 11 a.m.
One of the most well attended street fairs in the state, visitors can expect to find over 250 vendors lining the streets, parks, and plazas featuring antiques, collectibles, and craft vendors from all over the East Coast.
Cliffhanger Productions will bring its signature brand of entertainment to the festival with many activities to entertain the kids while the parents shop. There will be many rides and amusements, a children’s stage, magic show, balloon artists, face painting, and variety of street performers. Local restaurants will be out in force, along with some of the area’s non-profit groups that are planning food-related fundraising – all doing their part to make sure that festival goers can keep up their energy throughout the day. Other area non-profits will have booths to provide information, engage in fundraising, and recruit volunteers.
There will be live music all day long beginning with local artist and radio personality Lise Avery, Luke and the Troublemakers performing classic rock, and Jersey Sound who feature music from the 50s, 60s, and 70s.
The Art Association of Rutherford members will be selling their paintings on the lawn of Borough Hall. In addition, this year Ames Ave will be closed to vehicle traffic and will include a mechanical bull and beer garden.
Political candidates for local and state elections will be there to meet the public and answer questions.
