Repair Café Informational Meeting

FreeAnyone interested in helping out (or just learning about) the Green Team’s upcoming Repair Café is invited to attend an informational meeting on Saturday, September 7, 2019 at 3 pm in the Rutherford Public Library, 150 Park Avenue, Rutherford.
The Rutherford Green Team is planning South Bergen County’s first-ever Repair Cafe for Saturday, October 5, from 12-4 pm. Part social gathering, part repair shop, the Repair Café is an international phenomenon begun in Holland where community members volunteer to help fix things that people would otherwise throw out. It will be an afternoon drop-in event where community members can bring in broken or non-functioning items to be fixed for free with the help of expert volunteers. The purpose is not only to reduce waste but also to teach people how to fix things themselves.
The Green Team is looking for volunteers to repair various types of items (bicycles, computers, small appliances, clothing, jewelry, furniture, etc.) as well as volunteers to help with publicity, set-up and clean-up, greeting and directing the public, etc. Anyone interested who cannot attend the 9/7 meeting should contact Brian Hanson-Harding at brianhansonharding@gmail.com
