The 5th Annual Cruisin’ the Avenue Car Show will be held on Tuesday, June 25, 2019 from 5 pm to 10 pm to support the Rutherford First-Aid Ambulance Corp. Stroll the Avenue surrounded by cars from all years and classes, dine at local establishments under the stars, enjoy live music, and kick off the summer right! (Raindate Wednesday, June 26).
3rd Annual Rutherford Downhill Derby
This Saturday, June 15, 2019 is the 3rd Annual Rutherford Downhill Derby. The event showcases over 50 custom made and kit built soap box derby cars in an afternoon of gravity powered racing down West Pierrepont Avenue near the Lincoln Woods. Festivities kick off at 12pm with a beer garden, food and vendors on the American Legion lawn. Racing begins at 1pm. An awards presentation follows at 4pm with recognition for fastest cars, as well as,
Andrew Ortega “Touch a Heart” 5K Run & Fun Walk
The 9th Annual Andrew Ortega “Touch a Heart” 5K Run & Fun Walk will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2019, starting at Memorial Park. Race day registration begins at 8am, with a 10am Race Time. Andrew was a 13-year-old whose life ended too soon on August 28, 2010, when he passed away from Sudden Cardiac Arrest. Please help us honor Andrew’s memory by raising awareness of this condition and working toward preventing more untimely deaths.
Memorial Day Service & Parade
Rutherford will honor our fallen service men and women on Monday, May 27, 2019. There will be a Memorial Service at the Union Memorial Bridge followed by “Taps” Salute at Sunset Park. The Parade then begins at Sunset Park at approximately 9am proceeding up Union Avenue to Park Avenue and finishing in front of Borough Hall with a solemn ceremony of remembrance.
