The 8th Annual Andrew Ortega “Touch a Heart” 5K Run & Fun Walk will be held on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at 10am at Memorial Park. Registration will begin at 8am. “Andrew was a 13-year-old whose life ended too soon on August 28, 2010, when he passed away from Sudden Cardiac Arrest. Please help us honor Andrew’s memory by raising awareness of this condition and working toward preventing more untimely deaths.”
Changing Lives, One Pair at a Time
Do you have a pair of eyeglasses that are no longer being used? That pair of eyeglasses can change another person’s life. The Rutherford Lions Club collects used eyeglasses and delivers them to the NJ Lions Eyeglass Recycling Center where the eyeglasses are cleaned and sorted by prescription strength. The recycled glasses are distributed to people in need in developing countries, during Lion Sight mission trips, where they will have the greatest impact. You can drop off your usable eyewear in the collection boxes at the Rutherford Post Office,
Public Schools are in session on Friday 5/25 & Tuesday 5/29
During the 2017-2018 school year, the district has used all allocated snow days plus one additional day. Therefore, the Board of Education has approved the following changes to the 2017-2018 School Calendar: School will be open for a one-session day on Friday, May 25 (the Friday before Memorial Day). To make up the other day, the Professional Development Day planned for Tuesday, May 29 has been cancelled and will be a normal day of school.
Rutherford Multicultural Festival moved to Sunday, May 20th
Due to the expected inclement weather on Saturday, the Rutherford Multicultural Festival will take place on Sunday, May 20, 2018 from 12noon to 7pm and will feature free entertainment at the Lincoln Park band shell all day long.
